Gail Polizzotti 5K Race & Walk

Gail Polizzotti enjoyed golfing, vacationing on the Cape and spending time with friends; eating ice cream, dancing, and laughing.  Anyone who knew her would attest to her bright smile and wonderful sense of humor.  On October 25, 2002, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastasized Uterine Cancer.  She fought for her life for almost 8 months, being treated with the best chemo and radiation treatments they had available at the time.  She was also treated at the best cancer hospital in the country, Dana-Farber.  Even with all the treatments, six years ago, on June 18, 2003, her life was cut short at the young age of 50.

Now that I am raising children of my own, I am all too aware of how much I miss her guidance and love.  Cancer is killing all across the country so we are stepping up and doing something about it.

The Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge raises vital funds to benefit the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.  Mrs. Weaver and her husband and fellow trustee J. Wayne Weaver founded the Barr Program, in 1987 to give creative scientists the tools to find cancer’s causes and develop effective cancer treatments.  They bring us closer each day to the ultimate goal: a world without cancer.

This is our second year working with Dana-Farber.  In our first year, we raised $12,000.  We hope to surpass that number in our second year and help find a cure for this killer!  If you cannot make it to our party on June 27, 2009, please think about donating and help us reach our goal!

Thank you,

Nicole C. Wilson
